Fighting Back With Gratitude

I. Thanksgiving is not just an American holiday, it is a command of God.

Since every good and perfect gift comes from God, it is appropriate to give thanks to Him.

II. Thanksgiving is spiritual warfare
Satan's attacks always start in the mind. The battle is primarily there. When we are not actively giving thanks to God as a regular habit and discipline, our minds inevitably drift toward focusing on what is bad and what is wrong. We grumble, complain and feel sorry for ourselves. We worry and fret about the future. Why? Because we are not girding up the loins of our mind to focus on all the many good blessings God has given us and that He has promised to give us in the future.

Things look very dark in the future right now. But we don't have to sink into darkness while we wait for what is coming. We should actively be giving thanks to God and dwelling on those things that are good, noble, praiseworthy, honorable, etc. Only as we do this will we know the peace that passes understanding.
