Our heavenly Father's pity
The theme of praise and gratitude in Psalm 103 finds its source first in God's gifts and deeds, and then rises to God's heart, his disposition toward his people. As we go through various trials, what is God's heart toward his people? It is a heart of pity.
We consider here the nature of that pity - fatherly; the display of God's pity to men in our ignorance, fearfulness, foolishness, fretfulness, weakness, loneliness, and sinfulness; and, the objects of God's pity - those who fear him, his true children.
