I wholeheartedly agree with your references to how we treat or "should" be treating our elderly brothers and sisters. Churches are and always have been intergenerational and our older members can bring such wisdom and experience to the church family. They are to be valued and treated with dignity. As people become less physically active in their Christian service as the years progress, they adapt accordingly from what I've experienced. A very elderly lady in my old church once said to me, " I can hardly see a hand in front of me, I can't get around now like I used to, I definitely can't help with the coffees, baking or cleaning nowadays but what I can do is, I can listen to, and I can pray for our church." Never forgotten.

Thank you for highlighting this issue and doing it so well too. There is much to think on in this podcast. The great importance of the "permanence of the pew" for one, is a real standout for me in a day when many churches are resembling social clubs and similar, both inside and out. The solid foundation of a quality oak pew as opposed to the flimsy instability and unpredictability of a fold-up chair is something to be very much considered.

I have shared both of these "musical" podcasts with a musical friend. Smiles. I had never heard of the "Kingsmen Quartet" and went to look them up. I found a lovely album of hymns from way back in the day. What a find. Thank you for sharing.

I did recently share both of your 2 recent "Music" podcasts with an unbelieving friend who writes their own music and have signposted your podcasts to others over the past few months and now realise that that was all I needed to do to be part of the competition. Sigh. Please know that both your Sunday sermons and current Wednesday studies in Romans are very much a part of my week, every week. I hope this feedback encourages you in your invaluable ministry. The Cenotaph to Matthew Henry is a monument commemorating the renowned Bible commentator and Presbyterian minister, Matthew Henry (1662-1714). It's located on a roundabout opposite the entrance to Chester Castle, Chester, Cheshire, England. The monument, a Grade II listed building, is an obelisk made of polished granite, standing on a sandstone base. It was erected in 1860 and features a medallion with a portrait of Matthew Henry.

This sermon series of books on Romans are like hen's teeth here too in Wales,UK...smiles. People do have them but they are definitely reluctant to part with them...I've been hunting for an age. His sermon series on the book of Romans was preached to the congregation at Westminster Chapel in the heart of central London on Friday evenings between October 1955 to March 1968...wow! and wow again.
