BSGCC # 112 The friend of the bridegroom John 3 vs 22-30

Sermon Title: 1. The friend of the bridegroom, 2. The end of the Law, 3. John the Baptist Testimony

1. Unless we know the difference between Law and gospel we cannot believe in the truth.

2. Many mix Law and grace because they do not know what to do with Law, which means they also do not understand the claims of the gospel.

3. Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes. And the gospel is not a new Law by which we obey God unto righteousness. The gospel rather is a declaration of a work that was already completed and accepted on behalf of those who should be saved.

4. John the Baptist came to testify of Christ. But do we understand what God was actually by the testimony of John as it relates to Law and the gospel?

5. John 3:27-30 (NKJV)
   27 John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. 28 You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent before Him.' 29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
