The Sick are Those Who Need A Physician

We look at Mark 2:13-17 and the Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 3-5. As you prepare for Sunday worship, read the story of the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17-31 and ask this question: should we begin calling him the 'righteous young ruler'?

Jesus says 'I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.' In Mark 10, the 'righteous' one walks away and Jesus does not call him to come back.

'All these things I have done' says the one who has no need for a physician.

'Not what my hands have done can save my guilty soul, not what my toiling flesh has borne, can make my spirit whole' says the one who desperately needs a healing from the divine physician.
