22 Honoring Employers

1 Timothy is a letter that explains how the Household of God is to operate, see 1 Timothy 3:15.

Introduction:
Problems can become profitable if rightly handled. One of the problems in America is our view of work.

1. How do we honor our employers?

-In Deed - "With fear and trembling"
-In Word - "Do all things without grumbling or questioning."
-In Thought - "Not as people-pleasers"

2. Why do we honor our bosses?
   By honoring them rightly, we honor Christ. We honor our employers because:
   -They are a God-ordained authority.
   -They are God's image bearers.
   -They might be part of God's elect.
   -They are part of God's means to sanctify us.
   -They are God's provision for us.

Consider the end of verse 3 from John Newton's Hymn "How Tedious and Tasteless the Hours"

While blessed with a sense of His love,
a palace a toy would appear;
and prisons would palaces prove,
if Jesus would dwell with me there.
