Understanding and Wielding the Power of God's Word

Ephesians 6:17 and Hebrews 4:12 reveal that the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, is both a sword of precision and a sword of defense. Rev. Paul van Engelenhoven proclaims that God calls us to master both of these uses of the sword in our earthly walk: as a scalpel of the human heart and as a sword that combats Satan's lies. Further, he teaches how to hold and wield this sword. "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
