Jeremiah lived through seemingly hopeless times. As he writes Lamentations shortly after the destruction of Jerusalem, tears are still coursing down his cheeks (2:11), his teeth are broken, and the ashes still cover his body (3:16). Through all of this he sees the good when everything is bad!
