Peace and No Peace

Healing mercy v16-18.
God's purpose is not to obliterate but to purify and purge his church, and he will grant his Spirit to make his chastisements effectual to this end. None should despair that they are too sinful for God to save and heal them. God's grace effectual in healing his people.

Tidings of peace v19.
The means by which Judah would be restored - the gospel. God's healing to extend near and far, to Jew and Gentile.

The restless wicked v20,21.
Not all in Judah made partakers of God's healing and cleansing. Sin cannot satisfy and yet sinners restless in their pursuit of it. The solemn reality of eternal damnation.

This God as our God v21.
Is the God of judgment our God? Do we own the rightness of God's justice and judgment upon sin?
