A Charge to Obey

Paul has been giving Timothy the closing points of His letter of encouragement. Timothy was to flee from wrongful desires, pursuing the fruit of the Holy Spirit, fighting the fight of faith, and laying hold on eternal life--A beautiful picture of what a true Christian looks like. It is not someone who thinks they have made it or arrived, but one who is all out engaged in the battle. It is one who has a fear of the deceitfulness of sin and the lusts of his own heart. He has and is fleeing this and pursuing God. He is wrestling to master his life and bring it into conformity with the pattern given us by the Son of God. To this man, Paul now leaves another charge.
