8 Waging the Good War

1 Timothy is a letter that explains how the Household of God is to operate, see 1 Timothy 3:15.

Paul returns to the charge he was giving Timothy back in verses 3-5. In this charge, Paul reminds Timothy that He has been prepared by God himself for this battle. Given the condition of the church in Ephesus, it was imperative that Timothy engage in this battle.

Three things are necessary for the survival and expansion of Christ's kingdom.

#1 What is the war in which we fight? We must understand that we are in a spiritual fight.

#2 What are the weapons? they are faith and a good conscience.

#3 What is at stake? The local church. But more than that is the ability to love.
