The Juxtaposition of Election and Faith
Series The Book of Romans
Paul ends the previous section by stating , "nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in the Messiah Jesus, our Lord." This is because our calling, our election, is God's doing. Our part is to simply trust--to believe God. This leads Paul to ask the question, "but what about Israel?" Israel was chosen by God for one purpose--to bring forth the Messiah. In so doing, God gave them the same adoption he gave the church. Not only that, but they were given the adoption as sons, shown the glory of God, given the Covenants, the Law, the service in the Temple, and the Promise of God. But, for the most part, God's people continually eschewed the promise of GodNevertheless, it is Paul's heart's desire and prayer to God that Israel might be saved through faith. This then is the lesson presented in today's recording: The Juxtaposition of election and faith - two sides of the same coin
