And Others Were Tortured
Series An Exposition of Hebrews
Verse 35 of Hebrews 11 offers the crescendo of victorious faith, followed by the suffering associated with faith. Some were "resurrected" while others "were tortured." Having faith doesn't mean you always escape the temporal sufferings of this life. By faith you might escape the sword, or by faith you might persevere unto death by a sword. In both cases, faith is at work and the Lord is glorified.
