Nothing Overlooked By Christ

Pergamum was a great literary center and a religious center with many temples to many gods. Here a temple was first built for the worship of the Roman Caesar where he was first regarded as one of the gods. While worship of the Caesar as a god was required of all, worship of other gods was acceptable. For the Christians this created an imposing problem. In addition, God had also chosen to place this church in the shadow of the place where Satan dwelt on the earth. The church had been faithful and held fast even when one of their number was martyred. However that steadfastness did not excuse their allowing Satan to attach from within when he wasn't effective from the external pressures. Christ did not and does not overlooked a weakness or failure because of a strength or victory in another area. The Head of the church calls for purity and devotion in all areas to maintain a healthy and well-balanced body through which He can carry out the work of God in the time at hand. Such commendation and condemnation must be carefully and seriously considered by every church of Jesus Christ today.
